Music making is a highly regarded and satisfying experience. Research shows the scholastic advantage for students studying music, piano in particular. So piano lessons are a means to an end; the means require a regular lesson and practice times in comfortable surroundings that are free of distractions. Another means is to establish a comfortable working teacher/parent/student relationship. In this regard, we have found it beneficial to establish studio policies and a tuition agreement that is available to clients in the interview/trial lesson package.
Interview/Trial Lesson
Many parents are uncertain as to the readiness of their child to begin private music instruction. In addition, we believe the most important criteria for a successful tutoring situation is the match between the student and their weekly teacher. As a result, an interview/trial lesson is required before an applicant can be officially offered a lesson spot.

- A 45-minute assessment and 15 minute consultation with client In this trial, Ms. Bock or an associate can test your student for readiness or assess the best match for you from among our faculty and with regard to your scheduling needs.
Tuition
Your tuition at The Bock Studio will be based on a certain number of lessons that your teacher will schedule for the student between September 1st and the following August 31st. The number of lessons your first year will depend upon when during the year you start; however, most students sign up in August to begin in September. The full studio calendar year allows for 38 lessons given in a combination of private weekly lessons and monthly small groups. We are also able to offer a tuition structure of partner lessons in place of the private lessons, if a suitable partner is available at a time that works for both students. These lessons slots are less expensive than the private lesson/group lesson slots because they are always shared with one other student.
Policies
You will receive a studio policy sheet at the interview that covers what we expect in terms of commitment, practice, class behavior, cancellations, etc. A tuition contract and registration materials are also part of your interview/trial lesson package.
